Golden Oak Mushrooms seeks to establish a Commercial Gourmet & Medicinal Mushroom Production Facility and Training Centre to address the needs of the developing South African Gourmet and Medicinal Mushroom Industry.

Golden Oak Mushrooms involvement in the South African Mushroom Industry sprouted from the humble beginnings as an initiative to utilize and eliminate agricultural and other organic “waste” products from entering the waste stream. Mushrooms are an integral link within an organically managed agricultural system, demonstrating an extraordinary ability to produce a highly nutritious food while using materials that would otherwise be considered waste. The necessity of integrating various species of fungi became apparent as being essential to the holistic concept of a zero-waste system, envisaged, for a successfully self-sustaining community.
Golden Oak Mushrooms is ideally poised to take advantage of the anticipated growth and expansion of the South African Gourmet Mushroom Industry, having more than 7 years hands on practical experience in the cultivation of a diverse range of Gourmet and Medicinal Mushrooms within the South African environment. Combined with this is the ability of Golden Oak Mushrooms to supply developing and commercial growers with state of the art mushroom technologies, such as inoculated mushroom logs and high-tech mushroom grow rooms.
The technology offered by Golden Oak Mushrooms is of special interest to farmers, especially community groups, wanting to gain entry into the mushroom industry. The Mushroom Log System, as supplied by Golden Oak Mushrooms, provides a grower this opportunity without having had any prior mushroom cultivation experience. Existing commercial mushroom farmers are also provided the unique opportunity of diversifying the range of mushrooms produced without having to invest in new technologies to propagate the desired species.
